A military assembly for Operation Ketupat 2026, the police and government services operation for Eid al-Fitr celebrations, was held at the National Monument in Central Jakarta. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo conveyed a message to personnel regarding the security preparations for Eid al-Fitr 2026.

General Sigit stated that the government had issued a Joint Ministerial Decision (SKB) on traffic and crossing regulations during the exodus and return flows for the 2026/1447 Hijri Eid transport period.

The Joint Ministerial Decision covers the restriction of freight transport operations, the implementation of one-way systems, contra-flow measures, and odd-even vehicle schemes, construction project postponements, and maritime crossing arrangements. It also includes temporary functional reallocations and the use of vehicle weigh stations as rest areas for road users.

“For this reason, I hope all personnel will comply with and disseminate the implementation of this Joint Ministerial Decision so that it can be well understood and executed. Furthermore, to maintain smooth crossing routes, a delaying system, buffer zones, and a first-come-first-served system will be implemented,” General Sigit said in his address at the National Monument in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

General Sigit stated that in addition to traffic and crossing efficiency, price stability and the availability of essential goods and fuel also require attention.

“Therefore, conduct monitoring of supply availability and price fluctuations. Ensure that distribution runs smoothly and on time,” he said.

General Sigit explained that based on vulnerability mapping, there are several predicted public order disturbances that need to be anticipated, including conventional crime, organised racketeering, illegal racing, and inter-group fighting.

“For this reason, conduct routine patrols involving community security volunteers, particularly at vulnerable points and times. Additionally, catalogue empty homes left behind by those returning home and provide motorcycle parking services at police stations and other government offices to give the public a sense of security,” he said.

Based on Indonesia’s Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) forecasts, the weather in Indonesian regions during the Eid exodus period is expected to be cloudy to heavily rainy. Therefore, General Sigit warned of the need for special vigilance regarding hydrometeorological disaster potential, particularly in southern Indonesian regions such as Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara.

“This requires readiness from disaster response teams, supporting facilities and infrastructure, including disaster management measures at the pre-, during, and post-disaster stages. All operations must of course be supported by a sound public communication strategy,” he said.

“Ensure the public is informed of all police services, public order messages, and traffic engineering implementation. Additionally, optimise the 110 police emergency hotline to provide responsive and solution-oriented policing services, so that the public can feel the presence of our personnel in both informing them of the situation and resolving various community issues,” he concluded.
