Jakarta (ANTARA) — National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has urged the public intending to travel during the Lebaran 2026 exodus to maintain their physical condition and refrain from forcing themselves to drive in order to avoid accidents.

The appeal was made by the Police Chief following a Ramadan visit to East Java Regional Police Headquarters on Saturday.

“My message is, please be careful on the road. Do not rush too much, take it easy, rest,” said Sigit in a statement received in Jakarta.

The four-star general stated that if travellers feel exhausted, they should not force themselves to continue driving.

A fatigued physical condition during long journeys, if not approached carefully, could lead to undesirable incidents such as traffic accidents.

By prioritising caution, he said, travellers would experience complete happiness reuniting with family in celebrating the Eid al-Fitr occasion.

“So we can meet with family at our destination in good health,” he said.

The former Criminal Investigation Chief emphasised that the Police and all relevant stakeholders must work together to prepare rest stops that can be utilised by travellers to rest. Travel rest areas are available throughout Indonesia.

“We are preparing places for rest. If body condition becomes tired, there are rest areas, there are integrated service posts, there are service posts that can be used for resting,” said Sigit.

“Various facilities have also been prepared, perhaps breaking of fast food, pre-dawn meal preparation and health checks,” he added.

The Police, Sigit continued, have been committed from the outset to providing services and security for the public undertaking travel during the exodus.

“So I request that we keep accident numbers down, the exodus runs smoothly and the Police are ready to provide the best service to the public who will undertake the exodus during the Eid al-Fitr celebration in 2026,” he said.

During the Lebaran 2026 exodus, the Police are deploying 161,000 combined personnel in Operation Ketupat 2026, stationed at various strategic points to anticipate congestion, traffic accidents and potential security disruptions during the exodus period through to the Eid al-Fitr celebration.

In addition to personnel, the Police have prepared 2,746 security posts comprising 1,624 security posts, 799 service posts, and 343 integrated posts.

These posts are distributed across main exodus routes, rest areas, terminals, stations, ports, airports and tourist areas and places of worship.

In this year’s exodus security operation, the Police are not only relying on conventional traffic management such as one-way systems or contraflow, but also prioritising public service transformation through digitalised emergency response.

The Police continue to enhance services to the public, including the 110 emergency service which can be accessed during the exodus.

The 110 emergency service is designed to reduce reporting bureaucracy whilst accelerating officer response in the field. In emergency situations on exodus routes—whether accidents, security disruptions or vehicle technical problems—the public can directly connect with the command centre of the Regional Police or the nearest District Police.
