Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that the peak of the first wave of Lebaran 2026 return traffic occurred on Tuesday (24/3) night. Based on the latest data, more than 2 million vehicles have already returned to the Jakarta area.

This was stated by General Sigit after inspecting the 2026 homecoming return traffic at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre (JMTC) in Jatiasih, Bekasi, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

General Sigit explained that the number of vehicles passing through during this peak return traffic has increased compared to last year.

“Last night was the highest peak for the return traffic with 256,338 vehicles. This is higher than last year, which was 223,163 vehicles,” said General Sigit.

Cumulatively, until Wednesday noon at 12:00 WIB, the total number of vehicles that have entered Jakarta is approximately 2,040,000 units.

“So from last night, there was a record of approximately 1,958,838 vehicles entering. And just now we checked again, at 12:00 WIB there were 82,000, so the total is approximately 2,040,000 that have entered Jakarta,” explained General Sigit.

“This means there is still a remainder from around 2.5 million vehicles that previously left Jakarta. This remainder is our ongoing task to clear,” he added.

The Police Chief added that the peak of the second wave of homecoming return traffic is predicted to occur again on 28 and 29 March. This consists of the remaining vehicles that have not yet returned and additional vehicles from the public heading to Jakarta.

Therefore, although Operation Ketupat 2026 is officially scheduled to end today, General Sigit has instructed an extension of security through intensified routine activities (KRYD).

“The National Police are currently adding to their operations. Because today the Operation (Ketupat) has ended, we will add three or four more days ahead with KRYD. This is an effort to ensure the entire return traffic series is properly safeguarded,” stressed General Sigit.

On this occasion, the Police Chief also reminded homecomers not to force themselves to drive while fatigued. He asked the public to utilise rest areas on toll roads as well as service posts on arterial routes and weighbridges that have been prepared.

“Although nationally our traffic accident figures have decreased, we hope that by the end of the return traffic, the numbers do not increase significantly. The safety of the public arriving home is paramount,” he concluded.

During this inspection, the Police Chief was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, as well as directors from Jasa Marga and Jasa Raharja.

Also present were Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan, President Director of PT Jasa Marga Rivan Achmad Purwantono, and President Director of Jasa Raharja Muhammad Awaluddin.

Also in attendance were Assistant to the Police Chief for Operations Commissioner General Mohammad Fadil Imran, Head of Police Professional and Security Division Inspector General Abdul Karim, Head of Police Public Relations Division Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, Director of Mobile Brigade Security for Land, Sea, and Air Inspector General Suhendri, and Director of Traffic Law Enforcement for the National Traffic Corps Brigadier General Faizal.
