Palembang — South Sumatra Regional Police Chief Irjen Sandi Nugroho, together with senior officials from the Regional Coordination Board, conducted a direct inspection of the Kayu Agung–Palembang–Betung toll road corridor on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The inspection was conducted to ensure that the Eid homecoming movement in 2026 along this strategic corridor in South Sumatra proceeded safely, smoothly, and comfortably for the public.

The field inspection, which began around 10:00 WIB, covered several critical checkpoints, starting from the Musi Landas toll gate, rest areas, Musi River Bridge V, Kramasan toll gate, and ending at Kayu Agung.

The inspection was conducted to directly observe the condition of the main route that would be used by homebound travellers, including road surface condition, rest area readiness, road lighting, signs and markings, traffic congestion-prone areas, and potential security risks along the homecoming route.

During the inspection, the Police Chief was accompanied by South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru, Sriwijaya Military Command II Commander Major General Ujang Darwis, and other relevant officials from the Public Works Road Development Agency, National Roads Implementation Agency, Transportation Department, Jasa Raharja insurance, and the State Electricity Company.

The presence of cross-sectoral elements affirmed that securing and servicing the homecoming traffic flow could not be done in isolation but required synergy among all stakeholders.

Sandi stated that the route inspection was part of an anticipatory measure to ensure that all infrastructure and security schemes were fully prepared before the peak homecoming period commenced.

“Safety and security are our collective responsibility. Travellers must be comfortable, travellers must be safe, and we are jointly responsible for preparing all of that,” Sandi said.

Beyond the physical condition of the toll road, the inspection team also focused on supporting aspects of traveller safety and comfort, such as rest stop readiness, access entry and exit, smooth connectivity between road sections, and rapid response measures in the event of traffic disruptions or emergencies in the field.

At several points, the inspection also aimed to identify locations requiring enhanced security measures and traffic engineering.

Regarding anticipation of security disruptions during the homecoming period, the Police Chief emphasised that preventive measures would be implemented firmly and systematically through simulations and security point mapping.
