Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Saiman explained that the bruising on the body of child NS in Sukabumi, who died from alleged abuse by his stepmother, was caused by thermal trauma and blunt force injury.

“From the actions we have taken, we have examined 18 witnesses, consulted 3 experts and obtained documentary evidence, including a forensic medical report that clearly demonstrates how the bruising occurred as a result of thermal trauma and blunt force trauma,” said Police Chief Saiman during a public hearing with Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the parliament building in Central Jakarta on Monday (2 March 2026).

Saiman stated that the stepmother’s violence against NS was repeated. In November 2024, TR had also been reported to police on suspicion of assault. However, that case ended in a settlement because the complainant, NS’s father Anwar Satibi, withdrew his report. Police escalated the case to investigation stage due to the repeated nature of the assault.

“In 2024, there was also a police report where the complainant was also the same person, Anwar Satibi, reporting the stepmother. When the case was being investigated by us, a settlement occurred so the process was held in abeyance,” Saiman explained.

“The violence that occurred in November 2024 involved violent acts committed by Ms TR against the victim NS’s child, and there was also an admission at that time,” he added.

However, in the February 2026 case, TR did not admit to her actions towards NS. Police obtained several facts on the ground through scientific means.

“However, in the case we are currently handling, the suspect TR has not provided a confession and we are not pursuing a confession. We are working to carry out proof that can truly be held accountable scientifically,” he concluded.
