General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Indonesian National Police Chief, led a Ramadan Silaturahmi at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters (Mapolda Jawa Barat) with regional leadership and West Java communities. He called on all segments of society to consolidate to face the impact of geopolitical tensions arising from the Middle East conflict (Timteng).

The event was held as an iftar gathering attended by diverse layers of West Java society, ranging from the Forkopimda leadership, interfaith figures, communities, to elements from online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol), labourers, students, and cultural figures.

Attending the event were West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, West Java Police Chief Irjen Rudi Setiawan, Commander of Military Region III/Siliwangi Major General Kosasih, West Java Attorney General Hermon Dekristo, and KH Ahmad Muwafiq (Gus Muwafiq).

“What I appreciate is that this event shows how West Java’s people can uphold unity and solidarity. And it is our message that the situation we face, and its global impacts, require togetherness, and this is the key to maintaining the stability of kamtibmas (security and public order),” General Sigit said after the event at Mapolda West Java on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

He added that the solidarity of all elements of the nation is essential so that government programmes to prosper the people can run smoothly amid global pressure.

“Whatever we face, Indonesia must continue to implement its programmes. The government must be able to fulfil its mandate to support and spur growth and, of course, to improve the welfare of its people. And we can get through all of this if we are united,” he added.

General Sigit explained that President Prabowo Subianto and the government, for their part, are continuing to strive through diplomatic channels to play an active role in realising world peace in order to defuse the escalation in the Middle East, which has an impact on global oil prices.

“We have faced such situations before. Of course we want the current global situation to be resolved as soon as possible, and the government is actively working to help bring about resolutions to ongoing conflicts, so that peace can emerge. On the other hand, the global implications of the Middle East escalation also give rise to issues that we must be wary of,” General Sigit said.

Therefore, General Sigit emphasised the importance of safeguarding national strategic programmes, particularly in the fields of food security and energy security.

The government continues to undertake consolidation, meeting with all relevant figures to face these challenges together. And of course the programmes dealing with food security and energy security must be continuously monitored and promoted as part of our efforts to respond to global dynamics,” he said.

Besides discussing global issues, General Sigit expressed appreciation for the West Java Police’s humanitarian programmes that directly touch the lives of the less fortunate, such as the construction of Rumah Tidak Layak Huni (Rutilahu).

“Thank you, Governor, Police Chief, and Pangdam, for your continued synergy. The Police Chief has implemented programmes that directly reach the lower-income members of society in need, such as the Rutilahu programme for housing, which provides decent homes for those in need. I offer my appreciation and encourage continued activities that are of great benefit to the people,” he said.

Data show that the Polda Jabar Rutilahu programme covers 168 housing units across 23 regions, of which 67 units have been completed and 101 are still under construction. The Police Chief hopes that the Indonesian National Police continues to listen to the public’s aspirations in order to realise an increasingly precise (Presisi) institution.

“Carry out your duties well so that the public’s hopes for Polri can be fulfilled, and that the institution listens to the aspirations and expectations of the people, so that day by day the institution can perform its duties in line with what the public wants, especially the West Java Police community,” he concluded.
