Police Chief Assures Continued Handling of Acid Attack Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has assured that the police are continuing their efforts to handle the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).
“Yesterday, the President clearly ordered us to investigate this thoroughly. Naturally, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) are currently working on it,” the Police Chief said at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Field, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
He stated that Polri, through the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, is deeply analysing 86 surveillance cameras (CCTV) at the crime scene (TKP).
Nevertheless, the Police Chief emphasised that Polri will not stop at CCTV footage and will seek other sources of information and evidence.
“We will then compile everything to truly uncover this case or at least bring it to light,” he said.
Previously, the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, said that the 86 surveillance camera points being analysed consist of seven CCTV points taken from the ETLE system, 27 points from the Diskominfotik, eight points from the Transportation Agency, and 44 CCTV points owned by residents.
“From the 86 surveillance camera points we are analysing, there are 2,610 images in video form, with a duration of 10,320 minutes, so we need quite a long time to analyse the digital footage from the CCTV recordings,” he said.
Based on preliminary analysis of the CCTV footage, before the incident, the suspected perpetrators were detected to have been following the victim’s movements prior to the event.
“The movements of the suspected perpetrators were detected through several surveillance camera points, with the route starting from the perpetrators’ movements from the South Jakarta area to the initial gathering point on Jalan Merdeka Timur or around in front of Gambir Station,” he said.
