Police Assert Action Against Civil Organisations Demanding Bonus Payments from Businesses
Deputy National Police Chief General Dedi Prasetyo has called on the public to report any civil organisations (ormas) that demand forced holiday bonus payments (THR) from business owners. He stated that the police will take firm action against any violations.
“If it is proven that there is indeed a form of violation, certainly the police will take enforcement steps,” said Dedi at the Bina Graha Building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
Police Public Relations Division Head Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir urged the public to immediately contact the police hotline 110. He stated that the force was taking preventative measures, such as issuing warnings to those demanding THR to cease the practice.
“You can contact hotline 110 and report it. In principle, this is part of voluntary assistance if someone wishes to help,” he said.
“There will be various preventative activities, meaning we will warn if there are those making written demands and so forth that are causing disturbance, we will advise them to stop,” he added.
If the practice becomes a source of public concern and constitutes extortion, police will take law enforcement action.
“If it becomes structured and causes significant distress, there is no closed door to enforcement measures. But that will be the last resort,” he said.
