Cikande Police detained seven teenagers who were planning to engage in a street brawl in Kibin District, Serang Regency, Banten. The youths were allegedly preparing to fight whilst carrying machetes, sickles, and a knife fashioned from a ruler.

The seven teenagers were apprehended during a Blue Light patrol conducted by Cikande Police in the early hours of Sunday (22 February) at approximately 02:30 local time. Officers were patrolling in Kampung Ocit, Ciagel Village, Kibin District, specifically in the Tambak Tunnel area.

“During the patrol, officers encountered a group of teenagers gathered with suspicious behaviour. Upon inspection, it was discovered they were planning to engage in a brawl that had been provoked by a challenge via the WhatsApp social media platform,” said Cikande Police Chief AKP Tatang on Sunday (22 February 2026).

From the teenagers, police confiscated several items of evidence including one sickle, one machete, one ruler-knife, and three motorcycles that were being used to travel to the location.

“The evidence we seized demonstrates that they had already prepared themselves to carry out acts of violence. This is something we certainly cannot allow,” Tatang said.

According to Tatang, his officers in the field successfully prevented a clash that had the potential to cause fatalities or material losses.

“The Blue Light patrol represents our commitment to maintaining public order and security. The presence of police within the community is expected to deter both the intent and opportunity for criminal acts,” the police chief stated.

He noted that the phenomenon of brawls instigated through social media has become a serious concern for the police force. He added that monitoring children’s activities in the digital sphere is a shared responsibility between parents and the wider community.

“We urge parents to more strictly supervise their children, particularly during the evening hours. Ensure they are home before 22:00,” he said.
