Police arrest seven in crackdown

SEMARANG, Central Java: Local police on Sunday arrested seven people suspected of involvement in various crimes during their "crack of dawn" crackdown.

Two of the suspects, Mujiono and Kores, were shot in the leg when they resisted arrest, the Antara news agency reported. The two were suspected of involvement in the theft of electronic appliances and cars, chief of Semarang police office Col. H.M. Adang Rismanto said.

The other crimes included drug abuse and assault.

Police also confiscated some drugs. (swe)
