Police have arrested four men suspected of distributing controlled pharmaceuticals without proper licensing at several locations across Central Jakarta. Officers also seized thousands of illegally distributed controlled drugs.

Central Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Reynold Hutagalung stated that the arrests were carried out on Saturday evening, 14 March, following a public complaint. “We will not provide space for those distributing illegal controlled drugs in the Central Jakarta area. Every public report is followed up seriously to protect public safety and health,” Reynold said in a written statement on Monday, 16 March 2026.

The four suspects apprehended were identified as AA (53), DS (37), RA (21), and FA (23). AKBP Wisnu Kuncoro, Chief of the Narcotics Division of Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police, explained that the arrests were conducted across multiple locations. “The suspects were apprehended at four different locations: a small grocery store on Jalan Cempaka Putih Utara, Cempaka Baru Village, Kemayoran District; in front of Tanah Abang Station; and on Jalan Jembatan Tinggi, Kebon Kacang Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta,” he said.

Police seized 1,594 tramadol tablets, 302 hexamine tablets, and 218 trihexyphenidyl tablets from the four individuals. Officers also secured mobile phones, 4 million rupiah in cash believed to be proceeds from sales, and one electric motorcycle used by the suspects. “During the search, thousands of controlled drug tablets ready for distribution were discovered,” he explained.

All four have been taken to the police station for further investigation. Police are still investigating alleged networks involved in the unauthorised distribution of controlled pharmaceuticals. “The suspects face charges under Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, specifically regarding the production or distribution of pharmaceutical preparations that do not meet safety, efficacy, and quality standards,” he said.
