Police Anti-Narcotics Directorate Claims Former Police Chief Didik Received "Security Money" from Drug Suspect Koko Erwin
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Director of Narcotics Crime (Dirtipidnarkoba) at Indonesia’s National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim), Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that former Bima City Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro is suspected of receiving “security money” from alleged drug trafficker Koko Erwin.
“Essentially, security money was provided by the Narcotics Head (former Bima City Police Narcotics Head AKP Malaungi) to the Police Chief (AKBP Didik),” he said in Jakarta on Friday (27 February).
Eko assessed that Didik knew the money originated from a drug trafficker because it was delivered through Malaungi, who was the Narcotics Head at that time.
“What money would a Narcotics Head provide if not money from illegal drug circulation? It was security fees for the Police Chief (Didik),” he said.
The one-star general further revealed that Koko Erwin is a recidivist in narcotics cases. “Erwin was previously convicted of a narcotics case in 2018 in Makassar,” he stated.
The Narcotics Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri successfully arrested Koko Erwin on Thursday (26 February). The Commander of the Special Task Force (Kasatgas) of the Narcotics Crime Directorate, Senior Commissioner Kevin Leleury, stated that Erwin was apprehended in Tanjung Balai, North Sumatra, whilst attempting to cross into Malaysia.
During the arrest operation, officers also detained two other suspected accomplices, identified as A alias Y and R alias K. Both individuals, according to Kevin, played roles in assisting Erwin to escape to Malaysia to evade police apprehension.
“Suspect A alias Y was arrested in Riau, whilst R alias K was arrested in Tanjung Balai with Erwin,” he said.
The name Koko Erwin first emerged from a press conference held by AKP Malaungi’s legal representative, Asmuni. He stated that his client, in the investigation report as a suspect in a drug distribution case at the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Police Narcotics Directorate (Polda NTB), had revealed all parties involved.
From a series of investigation reports before police investigators, AKP Malaungi, whilst serving as Head of the Narcotics Unit at Bima City Police, admitted to knowing Koko Erwin as a drug trafficker who gave him 488 grams of methamphetamine at Marina Inn Hotel, Bima City in late 2025.
The delivery of methamphetamine in five plastic bags is described as a follow-up to a bribe worth 1 billion rupiah from Koko Erwin. The alleged experienced drug dealer delivered 1 billion rupiah with the intention of helping AKP Malaungi fulfil his superior’s wish to own a latest-model Alphard vehicle worth 1.8 billion rupiah.
AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro, as Bima City Police Chief, was also mentioned in the investigation report, reportedly welcoming Koko Erwin’s intention and arranging plans with his subordinate AKP Malaungi to ensure Koko Erwin’s methamphetamine business operated smoothly within Bima City Police jurisdiction.
