Police and Transportation Department Conduct Bus Safety Inspections in Depok Ahead of Mudik
Authorities comprising the Depok Metro Police, Transportation Department, Health Department, and Jasa Raharja insurance conducted joint roadside inspections at Jatijajar Terminal in Depok. The inspections ensure that buses transporting passengers are in roadworthy condition before commencing services.
According to the Depok City Government website, numerous bus fleets scheduled to provide Lebaran 2026 mudik services underwent vehicle roadworthiness inspections at Jatijajar Terminal on Thursday, 12 March. The inspections were conducted to verify that all vehicles met safety standards before carrying passengers.
The operation involved multiple agencies, including the Depok Metro Police, the Depok City Government through the Transportation Department, the Depok City Health Department, and Jasa Raharja insurance. Jatijajar Terminal Chief Rafik Hidayat confirmed that inspections were thorough, covering both vehicle condition and driver qualifications.
He ensured that all buses entering Jatijajar Terminal had undergone ramp checks and were deemed roadworthy.
“We inspect vehicles starting from whether the vehicle inspection certificate is still valid, then tyre condition, brakes, lights and wipers,” Rafik said, according to the Depok City Government website on Friday, 13 March.
Beyond vehicle inspections, officials also conducted health screenings of bus drivers who would be transporting passengers.
“These inspections include urine tests, blood pressure checks, and blood glucose level measurements to ensure drivers remain in prime physical condition,” he explained.
According to Rafik, the measures were implemented to minimise accident risks during the peak mudik period.
“Drivers must truly be in good health so that the journey for mudik travellers can proceed safely to their destination,” he concluded.
