Police have appealed to residents not to organise convoys during the takbir evening in Bogor Regency, West Java. Beyond security concerns, convoy activities risk causing friction on the roads.

“Of course, for convoys and similar activities, we have advised from the outset that such activities should be avoided,” said Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto on Thursday (12 March 2026).

Wikha stated that jointly organised convoys could potentially provoke inter-community friction. This has occurred previously.

“As we have seen on several occasions, such events have created friction between community members,” he said.

He appealed to residents to spend the takbir evening engaged in more beneficial activities, such as conducting takbir at their respective places of worship.

“That is why we urge the public to spend their time on more meaningful activities. For instance, takbir can also be held at places of worship, which I believe would be better,” he explained.

5,000 Personnel Deployed

Previously, approximately 5,000 combined personnel were deployed to secure Bogor Regency, West Java, as part of Operation Ketupat 2026. The combined forces comprise the TNI-Police and other agencies.

“In total, we have more than 5,000 personnel consisting of 1,099 personnel from Bogor Police, assisted by over 4,000 personnel from relevant agencies, including the Transportation Department, Civil Police Unit, Military District Command, and Sub-District Military Command, as well as members of the public participating in securing the Eid exodus and return traffic in 2026,” said Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto.

Operation Ketupat runs from 13 to 25 March 2026. Wikha stated that his office has established 14 monitoring posts across Bogor Regency.

“We have also prepared several posts, with 14 monitoring posts established. These monitoring posts are distributed across all areas of Bogor Regency at 14 separate locations,” he said.
