Students from the Police Science College (STIK) Class of 83 have distributed 70 cattle to disaster-affected residents in Aceh. The aid was intended to support the meugang tradition.

The symbolic handover took place in Gampong Blang, Langsa Kota, Aceh. The cattle will be distributed to several disaster-affected villages across the Aceh region, enabling communities to continue observing the meugang tradition ahead of Ramadan.

Meugang is a hereditary cultural tradition of the Acehnese people, observed ahead of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha. This social initiative represents a form of community solidarity.

"This donation is a form of our concern for our fellow citizens in Aceh who are facing difficult times following the disaster. In this blessed month of Ramadan, we must be present to ease their burden," said STIK Chairman Inspector General Eko Rudi Sudarto in a written statement on Wednesday (18 February 2026).

Eko stated that the aid represents an implementation of humanitarian values that are consistently taught to students. STIK students are committed to assisting in the direct distribution of aid to villages in need, ensuring that assistance reaches the intended recipients.

"I always remind our students: use both logic and compassion in carrying out duties amongst the community. Logic guides us to act appropriately, whilst compassion enables us to understand the suffering of others. These two must go hand in hand so that we become police officers who are not only professional but also humane," he explained.

The Keuchik (Village Head) of Gampong Blang, Junaidi, expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided.

"This aid is tremendously meaningful for us as we struggle to recover from the disaster. They have not only provided material assistance but also given us hope and encouragement," he said with deep emotion.

Meanwhile, one disaster-affected resident, Ibu Salmah (52), expressed her joy at still being able to celebrate the meugang tradition despite the constraints.

"Alhamdulillah, we can still experience the meugang tradition this year thanks to the assistance from STIK students. May Allah repay all their kindness," she said, holding back tears.
