Polda Metro Jaya recorded the resolution of 127 police reports related to street crimes between 1-22 May 2026. Of these, 173 suspects were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department of Polda Metro Jaya in conjunction with regional police stations.

Commissioner of Police Iman Imannudin, head of the Criminal Investigation Department, disclosed the details during a press conference at the Promoter Building lobby of Polda Metro Jaya on Friday (22 May).

“Polda Metro Jaya, along with regional police stations, has resolved 127 police reports involving 173 suspects. Of these, 38 suspects were handled by Polda Metro Jaya and 135 by the regional stations,” said Commissioner Iman.

The cases resolved include theft with aggravation, robbery with violence, and motor vehicle theft (commonly referred to as 3C). Street crimes are a serious concern due to their direct impact on public safety.

According to Commissioner Iman, several cases were resolved following public reports and viral social media videos. This information was then followed up through crime scene processing, witness interviews, CCTV footage analysis, and evidence examination.

“Some of the cases we uncovered originated from viral social media videos. This information assisted us in the identification, investigation, and arrest of suspects,” he added.

During the investigations, police secured various evidence, including motorcycles, cars, laptops, firearms, letter T keys, bladed weapons, CCTV footage, clothing, and stolen goods.

In addition to enforcement, Polda Metro Jaya has strengthened preventive measures through large-scale patrols at high-risk locations, community security post (poskamling) development, and the use of CCTV networks to aid case resolution.

Currently, over 24,000 CCTV points are integrated across DKI Jakarta and Polda Metro Jaya’s jurisdiction. The presence of CCTV is deemed to help police expedite investigations when crimes occur.

“We continue preventive efforts through regular large-scale patrols at vulnerable points. We are also developing 150 community security posts to enhance local safety,” Commissioner Iman added.

Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, expressed appreciation for the public’s role in providing information to police. He stated that timely tips from citizens greatly assist in handling and resolving street crime cases, including theft with aggravation, robbery with violence, and motor vehicle theft.

“We thank the public for providing information. Community involvement is crucial for police in handling and resolving cases,” he said.

Commissioner Budi emphasised that these resolutions reflect Polda Metro Jaya’s commitment to ensuring public safety. He confirmed all enforcement actions are conducted in accordance with legal procedures, adhering to the principles of legality, proportionality, and necessity.

“This enforcement sends a message to offenders and those intending to commit crimes. Should the public witness, know of, or experience criminal activity, they should immediately report to the nearest police station or via the 110 hotline,” said Commissioner Budi.

He assured that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) will continue to be present among the public to provide protection, services, and maintain community safety.

Polri will remain as protectors, guardians, and servants of the people, fulfilling their duty as life safeguarders, civilisation builders, and human rights advocates,” he concluded.
