Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has called on all Polish citizens to leave Iran immediately. The appeal was made on Thursday (19 February) local time, after United States President Donald Trump once again signalled potential military action against Iran.

“Everyone still in Iran should leave immediately, and under no circumstances should anyone plan to travel to the country,” he said at a press conference, as reported by AFP and Al Arabiya on Friday (20 February 2026).

He added that “the possibility of an escalating conflict is very real, and within hours, or a dozen or so hours, evacuation may no longer be an option.”

This is the second time in recent months that the Polish government has urged its citizens to leave Iran.

The United States has deployed military forces near Iran, including warships, fighter jets, and refuelling aircraft, laying the groundwork for a potentially sustained strike against Iran should Trump give the order to attack.

On Thursday (19 February), Trump gave Iran a maximum of 15 days to reach an agreement on its nuclear programme. He warned that dire consequences would follow if no decision were reached after 15 days.

“We will either reach a deal or it will be very unfavourable for them,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, as reported by AFP on Friday (20 February 2026).

When asked about the timeframe, Trump said, “I think that will be enough time, 10 to 15 days, at the most.”

Trump also remarked that reaching a deal with Iran has proven difficult. He warned that dire consequences would ensue if no agreement were truly reached.

“It has been proven over the years that it is not easy to make a meaningful deal with Iran. We need to make a meaningful deal, otherwise bad things will happen,” Trump said at the inaugural meeting of the “Peace Council” held in Washington, DC.

At the meeting, Trump cautioned that the United States may have to take further steps in the absence of a deal. “You will find out in the next 10 days,” he said.
