PNJ Student Who Shouted at Police During Protest Not Registered in Official Rally
A Politeknik Negeri Jakarta (PNJ) student with initials SB, who was filmed shouting and pointing at police officers, was not registered in the official protest rally held in front of the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) in South Jakarta on Friday, 27 February 2026.
This was revealed after PNJ conducted an internal investigation and found that SB had attended the demonstration in a personal capacity.
“The individual recorded in the video is not registered in the protest rally coordinated by PNJ student organisations and was known to have attended personally outside of official coordination,” said Nurul Intan Pratiwi, Deputy Director of Student Affairs at PNJ, in a statement on Monday, 2 March 2026.
SB, who was wearing campus attire, risked creating public confusion and damaging the institution’s reputation.
“PNJ emphasises that the actions of the individual student represent a personal responsibility and are not related to any other institution,” she said.
“PNJ believes that healthy democratic space should be accompanied by mutual respect and a humanistic approach from all parties,” Nurul added.
Subsequently, SB has been summoned by the campus and will be subject to disciplinary action under the Student Conduct Regulations and Code of Ethics.
“This process is part of character development and discipline enforcement within the campus environment,” Nurul explained.
Earlier, it was reported that a protest participant shouted whilst pointing at police officers who were securing a student demonstration in front of Mabes Polri on Friday, 27 February 2026. Although briefly pulled away by colleagues, he returned to express his frustration before being moved away by other protesters.
After the action, the man with initials SB explained his reasons for the incident. He claimed to recognise one of the police officers on duty. According to SB, a police officer with initials S had beaten him during a demonstration in late August 2025. At that time, he said, the officer was not wearing the brown uniform as he was when escorting the latest action.
