Lubuk Basung — The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Agam Regency, West Sumatra has distributed non-cash assistance valued at Rp544 million to victims of hydrometeorological disasters to meet their needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH.

Ade Alfani, Head of the PMI Agam Headquarters in Lubuk Basung, stated on Saturday that the assistance was given to 544 heads of household spread across five sub-districts: Tanjung Mutiara, Palembayan, Tanjung Raya, Matur, and Ampek Koto.

“Each head of household receives Rp1 million in non-cash assistance from PMI,” he said.

He noted that the recipients were residents affected by flash floods and landslides that struck the area in late November 2025.

“Distribution was carried out through PT Pos Indonesia after withdrawal cards were issued and funds were disbursed on Saturday,” he said.

He acknowledged that the assistance originated from the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC), which was handed over to the central PMI and subsequently distributed by the provincial PMI.

The non-cash assistance was distributed to three regencies and cities across West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh.

“Specifically for West Sumatra, the assistance was distributed to residents affected by the disaster in Agam Regency,” he said.

He hoped that the recipients would use the assistance wisely to meet their needs ahead of Eid 2026.

“We hope this non-cash assistance can help them purchase Eid necessities,” he said.

Muhammad Lutfi AR, Regional Secretary of Agam, expressed appreciation to the PMI for the various forms of assistance provided to the local community since the disaster occurred.

He stated that PMI support has helped the local government in efforts to alleviate the burden on disaster-affected residents.

“The assistance provided by PMI is very meaningful to the community. This demonstrates that in facing disasters, the local government is not alone. The PMI, together with various other humanitarian organisations, is present to help those in need,” he said.
