PT PLN (Persero) is ensuring the readiness of electric vehicle charging infrastructure along the holiday travel route from Java to Bali ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. EV charging infrastructure is being strengthened to ensure the smooth operation of this significant travel period.

Adi Priyanto, Director of Retail and Commerce at PLN, conducted direct inspections of several public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) along the corridor from Surabaya to Denpasar, Bali. This was to ensure that EV charging services are ready to serve the public. The inspections were carried out alongside PLN’s Retail and Commerce Directorate team, reviewing several SPKLU locations at rest areas and strategic points along the main travel route to Bali.

Adi stated that this inspection activity represents PLN’s commitment to ensuring all EV charging infrastructure is in optimal condition ahead of the anticipated increase in public mobility during the Eid holiday period.

“We want to directly verify that all SPKLU along the Surabaya-Bali corridor are operating properly and ready to serve electric vehicle users. The trend of electric vehicle usage continues to increase, including for long-distance travel during the Eid holiday season,” Adi said as quoted on Thursday, 14 March 2026.

Nationally, PLN together with partners has deployed 4,769 EV chargers distributed across 3,078 locations throughout Indonesia to support the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem. This infrastructure comprises various charging types, ranging from Ultra Fast Charging, Fast Charging, Medium Charging to Standard Charging, tailored to the needs of EV users.

To support the 2026 Eid holiday travel period, PLN is deploying 1,681 SPKLU units distributed across 994 locations on holiday travel routes in Sumatra, Java and Bali regions. All these SPKLU facilities are supported by more than 5,000 standby personnel working 24 hours across three shifts to ensure optimal service delivery to EV users.

In addition to ensuring infrastructure readiness, Adi stated that PLN is also deploying mobile SPKLU and emergency charging units to anticipate potential emergencies that EV users might encounter during their travels.

“We are also preparing mobile SPKLU and emergency charging units that can respond quickly if electric vehicle users experience problems on the road. With this support, we want to ensure that EV users’ travel during the holiday season remains safe and comfortable,” Adi said.
