The provision of electricity in Waepana I Village is a tangible manifestation of the nation’s commitment through PLN to ensure energy justice for all citizens without exception. PT PLN (Persero) Nusa Tenggara Timur Regional Unit has supplied electricity to Waepana I Village in Soa District, a remote area of Ngada Regency, through the construction of network infrastructure and load testing. General Manager PLN Nusa Tenggara Timur Regional Unit F. Eko Sulistyono said the provision of electricity in Waepana I Village is part of PLN’s commitment to achieving equitable energy access in remote areas. ‘The presence of electricity in Waepana I Village is a concrete demonstration of the state’s commitment through PLN to deliver energy justice for all citizens without exception,’ he said. The electricity network construction was carried out by PLN’s Flores Power Project Implementation Unit in collaboration with PLN’s Bajawa Customer Service Unit. He expressed hope that the electricity supply would support community economic growth, education, and village welfare. Eko explained that to electrify the area, PLN constructed a 2.07-kilometre medium voltage network, a 5.14-kilometre low voltage network, and a 50-kilovolt-ampere distribution substation. PLN Flores UP2K Manager Reza Eka Putra stated that commissioning tests were conducted to ensure all networks operate safely and reliably before widespread public use. ‘Through these tests, we ensure the electricity network is ready to operate safely and reliably. We hope this infrastructure will immediately support residents’ daily activities and boost local economic productivity,’ he said. He added that the entire testing process proceeded smoothly thanks to support from the village government and local community. The Acting Village Head of Waepana I expressed gratitude to the government and PLN for the long-awaited electricity supply. ‘The arrival of electricity is a long-held dream and hope for our community. With electricity, daily activities become easier and children can study more effectively,’ he said. PLN stated it will continue expanding electricity access across remote areas of Nusa Tenggara Timur to support balanced development and improve community welfare.
