PLN Electricity Tariffs from 1 May 2026
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has set the electricity tariffs for PT PLN (Persero) for the second quarter of 2026, the period from April to June 2026, to remain unchanged or without any adjustments.
This means that PLN’s electricity tariffs from 1 May 2026 will not see an increase. This policy is implemented to maintain public purchasing power and support national industrial competitiveness.
The Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of ESDM, Tri Winarno, explained that the decision underwent a thorough evaluation of macroeconomic parameters in accordance with applicable regulations.
“The public need not worry, as the Government has set the electricity tariffs for the second quarter of 2026 to remain stable. This determination is made to protect public purchasing power. The Government also urges the public to use electricity efficiently and wisely as part of collective efforts to support national energy resilience,” said Tri in Jakarta in a written statement citing PLN’s official website, quoted on Friday (1/5/2026).
Adjustments to electricity tariffs for non-subsidised customers are based on Ministry of ESDM Regulation Number 7 of 2024, with periodic evaluations every three months based on changes in exchange rates, ICP, inflation, and HBA.
It is stated that for the second quarter of 2026, the parameters used are realisations from the period of November 2025 to January 2026, namely an exchange rate of Rp16,743.46 per US dollar, ICP of US$62.78 per barrel, inflation of 0.22 percent, and HBA of US$70 per tonne.
Although the formula indicates potential tariff changes, the Government has decided to maintain electricity tariffs to ensure national economic stability amid global dynamics. This policy also applies to subsidised customers who will continue to receive unchanged tariffs.
Meanwhile, PLN’s President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated that PLN is ready to implement the Government’s policy while ensuring the reliability of electricity supply for all customers, especially amid the dynamics and uncertainties of global geopolitical conditions.
“In the midst of dynamic global geopolitical conditions, we appreciate the Government’s step to maintain electricity tariff stability for the second quarter of 2026. This policy provides certainty for the public and business world, and demonstrates the state’s presence in safeguarding purchasing power and national competitiveness,” said Darmawan.
