PLN deploys 2,148 personnel to safeguard Jakarta's electricity supply during Eid al-Fitr
Jakarta — PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), the state-owned electricity utility’s Greater Jakarta Distribution Unit, has deployed 2,148 personnel to ensure secure electricity supply in Jakarta and its surroundings during the Islamic New Year period of 1447 Hijriah/Eid al-Fitr 2026.
“To maintain system reliability, PLN’s Greater Jakarta Distribution Unit has deployed 2,148 personnel who will operate during the electricity alert period from 14 March to 28 March 2026,” said General Manager Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin in Jakarta on Sunday.
This measure aims to ensure smooth community activities, particularly during religious observances and Eid al-Fitr celebrations. Personnel have been distributed across strategically important locations to ensure the electrical system remains optimal and can quickly address potential disruptions.
In addition to standby personnel, PLN has established 17 command posts equipped with various operational support equipment. All equipment has been prepared to accelerate response times in case of electricity disruptions, ensuring continued service to the community.
PLN’s readiness has also focused on key sites anticipated to be centres of community activity during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, including 519 mosques, six transport zones, seven government centres, and various other public gathering points across Jakarta. Beyond serving the general public, PLN’s Greater Jakarta Distribution Unit is also ensuring infrastructure support for electric vehicle users during the Eid homecoming period.
This represents a significant factor in guaranteeing stable electricity supply as community demand increases throughout Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr celebrations. PLN is ensuring all electrical infrastructure across Jakarta is ready and reliable.
“With good system readiness and personnel support, we are committed to maintaining safe electricity supply so that the community can celebrate Eid al-Fitr comfortably,” Adchaminoerdin said.
Jakarta’s electrical system has a supply capacity of 10.97 gigawatts (GW). The forecast peak load during the period is approximately 5.45 GW, providing a power reserve of approximately 5.43 GW, or nearly 50 per cent of electricity demand requirements.
This demonstrates that Jakarta’s electrical system is sufficiently robust to support community activities throughout Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. This measure is important in preventing potential hazards such as electrical short circuits and other risks when homes are vacant.
Adchaminoerdin reminded the public to turn off or unplug electrical appliances that are not in use to avoid electrical disruptions that could trigger fires or installation damage. Residents should also monitor the condition of electrical cables within their homes, with hazardous cables secured immediately, particularly those on floors or using extension reels.
Decorative lights located outside or in garden areas should also be turned off beforehand to prevent broken glass and electrical short circuits.
