PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) Jakarta Raya has urged residents planning to travel for Lebaran 2026 to ensure electrical installations in their homes are safe before departure. General Manager Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin requested that residents inspect all electrical equipment to prevent potential hazards such as short circuits or electrical faults whilst homes remain vacant.

“I remind residents planning to travel for Lebaran 2026 to check electrical installation conditions in their homes and ensure everything is in a safe state,” Andy stated when contacted in Jakarta on Sunday.

He emphasised that this precaution is particularly important for electrical equipment that will not be used for extended periods whilst homeowners are away.

Andy also advised residents to switch off or disconnect electrical equipment that is not necessary before leaving home. This measure aims to prevent potential electrical faults that could trigger fires or damage installations.

Additionally, residents should pay attention to electrical cable conditions in their homes. Cables that pose risks, particularly those on floors or using cable reels, should be secured. Decorative lights in exterior areas or gardens should be switched off to prevent short circuit risks from rain or light damage.

Andy explained that this advisory is important given that March typically experiences rainfall with considerable intensity that can cause water accumulation or flooding in various areas.

“Cables on floors or using cable reels should be moved to higher locations to avoid risks if water accumulation occurs,” he said.

Beyond ensuring electrical installation safety, residents leaving their homes are also advised to inform neighbours or community administrators, such as neighbourhood heads. This enables the surrounding community to help monitor the condition of unoccupied homes during the residents’ absence.

“Coordination with neighbours and community administrators is important as a preventive measure in case disasters such as flooding or other emergency conditions occur,” Andy said.

Through various preventive measures, PLN hopes residents can travel during Lebaran migration with greater peace of mind without worrying about the condition of their homes left behind.
