PLN Baitul Maal Foundation Distributes Aid Packages to 45,000 Beneficiaries
The PLN Baitul Maal Foundation has distributed aid packages to more than 45,000 beneficiaries as an expression of social responsibility by PLN employees during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. In the initial phase, over 23,000 packages were distributed simultaneously across 13 locations throughout various regions of Indonesia.
PLN Chief Executive Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the programme, titled “Cahaya Berkah Ramadan 1447 H” (Blessings of Ramadan 1447 H), represents PLN’s commitment to delivering tangible benefits to society, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. “We hope the aid packages distributed will bring happiness, strengthen spirits, and help communities observe Ramadan with greater peace and hope,” said Darmawan at the assistance distribution activity held at the PLN Institute of Technology Mosque in Jakarta on 25 February.
In the Jabodetabek region specifically, aid packages were distributed simultaneously to more than 2,500 beneficiaries across nine locations, including Petogongan Kampung Deret in South Jakarta, the PLN Institute Mosque in West Jakarta, and various mosques throughout Greater Jakarta and surrounding areas.
The programme is funded by zakat contributions from Muslim PLN employees, managed in trust through the PLN Baitul Maal Foundation to support social, religious, and community empowerment activities. Through this management approach, zakat is not only distributed as social assistance but is also directed to provide sustainable benefits to recipients.
PLN Baitul Maal Foundation Chairman Sulistyo Biantoro explained that the support gathered through this programme aims to strengthen values of social concern and promote beneficiary independence. “Ramadan is an opportunity for us all to demonstrate genuine care through sharing actions that bring hope, strengthen social solidarity, and promote community self-reliance,” said Sulistyo.
The activity involved the academic community as part of efforts to expand social impact whilst providing education to younger generations. The PLN Institute of Technology’s Rector, Iwa Garniwa, expressed appreciation for the collaboration, noting that the sharing activity serves as a means to foster empathy, togetherness, and a spirit of sharing amongst people. “Ramadan teaches us that blessings are not measured by what we possess, but by how much benefit we can provide to others,” said Iwa.
