PKS Proposes DKI Block Ex-Husband's NIK for Failing to Provide Maintenance to Former Wife After Divorce
The proposal was presented by DPRD member from the PKS faction, Muhammad Thamrin, during the Jakarta DPRD plenary meeting on the factions’ general views regarding the Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) on the Implementation of Women’s Protection, on Monday (11/5/2026).
PKS requests a policy review for administrative sanctions against parties who ignore court decisions related to maintenance.
“The government needs to examine the possibility of policies imposing sanctions on husbands who do not implement post-divorce court decisions, particularly regarding maintenance and neglect of wives and children. For example, administrative sanctions such as deactivation of the NIK or restrictions on certain administrative services,” said Thamrin at the plenary meeting.
PKS assesses that this policy could serve as one instrument to strengthen women’s and children’s protection in Jakarta. According to the PKS faction, the regulation also has the potential to become a national reference if implemented appropriately.
“If implemented appropriately, this policy could become a national reference for strengthening women’s and family protection,” said Thamrin.
On that occasion, Thamrin also highlighted the importance of strengthening the women’s protection system in Jakarta. One proposal presented was the establishment of a digital-based women’s protection dashboard integrated across related regional device organisations (OPD).
“The PKS faction proposes a digital-based women’s protection dashboard integrated across related OPDs, so that the government can monitor violence-prone areas, the speed of victim handling, and the effectiveness of services that are measurable and sustainable,” he added.
