PKB Meets Iranian Ambassador to Convey Deep Condolences: A Form of Moral Support
Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Chairman of the PKB DPP, Najmi Mumtaza Rabbany, together with Riezal Ilham Pratama and Gielbran Muhammad Noor, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to convey condolences and solidarity over the military escalation that has occurred and resulted in casualties. In the meeting, PKB’s DPP expressed deep empathy for the Iranian people over the situation. “We are here as a form of moral support. Every loss of life in armed conflict is a humanitarian tragedy that must not be viewed as normal,” Najmi said in a statement on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. The PKB DPP strongly condemned the military attack carried out without a legitimate basis under international law and potentially widening regional conflict. “Violence is not a way to resolve issues. Military escalation will only deepen instability and have broad impacts on social, economic, cultural, and political life, including for Indonesia,” Najmi asserted. Meanwhile, Riezal Ilham Pratama added that armed conflict always leaves long-lasting impacts on civilian society. “The most affected in every conflict are ordinary people. Therefore, a humanitarian approach and diplomacy must be the primary priority in every settlement of interstate disputes,” he said. Then, Gielbran Muhammad Noor emphasised the importance of Indonesia’s active role in accordance with the constitutional mandate. “Indonesia has a historic commitment to world peace. We must continue to push for de-escalation and strengthen diplomatic channels through the various international forums available,” he said. As a party rooted in the constitutional mandate, PKB’s DPP emphasised that Indonesia’s foreign policy must be consistent with the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution: to participate in world order based on freedom, lasting peace, and social justice. PKB’s DPP called on all parties involved to exercise restraint, halt military escalation, and prioritise dialogue as the main path to resolving the conflict. “Peace is the constitutional mandate and our shared moral obligation,” Najmi said.
