Jakarta — The chairman of the Kebangkitan Bangsa Party (PKB), Muhaimin Iskandar, or Cak Imin, sent off participants in the PKB’s free mudik programme ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

A total of 1,200 travellers were dispatched using 25 buses from the forecourt of the PKB Central Leadership Office on Jalan Raden Saleh, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (15 March 2026).

“As we do routinely each year, we carry out collective mudik. Symbolically, it represents our desire to maintain community bonds, togetherness, and mutual cooperation,” said Cak Imin.

Cak Imin stated that the programme also aims to assist citizens who wish to return to their hometowns without worrying about transportation costs.

“Everyone helps, and all those in need receive free transport to reach their hometowns. We even provide services to ensure comfort during the journey,” he said.

“This tradition must continue every year. Each year, we must send participants as part of our tradition,” he added.

According to Cak Imin, the tradition of returning to one’s hometown or mudik is a cultural practice with both social and economic impacts for the regions of origin of migrant workers.

“The Indonesian cultural tradition of returning home or mudik, alongside providing social benefits, certainly has economic impacts,” he noted.
