PIS Mobilises 415 Tugboats and Energy Terminals Ahead of RAFI 2026
Jakarta, Indonesia – PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) is strengthening the readiness of its fleet and energy terminals to safeguard the smooth distribution of national fuel and LPG, including via the Tanjung Sekong LPG Terminal, which accounts for around 40 percent of domestic LPG needs.
Vega Pita, Acting Corporate Secretary of PIS, said the readiness is being undertaken in line with Pertamina’s Task Force (Satgas) commitment during the Ramadhan and Idul Fitri (RAFI) 2026 period to ensure operational reliability and energy distribution.
“Our main focus is to support operational reliability, safety and the smooth distribution of fuel and LPG,” Vega said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In terms of the fleet, PIS’s subsidiary Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) has mobilised 415 tugboats to safeguard tanker navigation across Indonesia.
Meanwhile, through Pertamina Energy Terminal (PET), PIS ensures readiness of fuel and LPG storage terminals, including the Tanjung Sekong LPG Terminal, which forms a backbone of the national LPG distribution.
“The Tanjung Sekong LPG Terminal, which supports around 40 percent of national LPG needs, is assured of operating optimally,” Vega said.
In addition to Tanjung Sekong, PIS is optimising the Bau-Bau Fuel Terminal in the eastern region of Indonesia and the Kota Baru Fuel Terminal, supporting energy distribution in Kalimantan Selatan (South Kalimantan) and Kalimantan Tengah (Central Kalimantan).
Vega added that the East Java Refrigerated LPG Terminal (PLPG Tuban), with a capacity of 88,000 metric tonnes and pressurised storage facilities of 5,000 metric tonnes, is continually monitored to strengthen the national LPG distribution infrastructure.
“This PLPG will eventually become a hub terminal for LPG in Eastern Indonesia,” she said.
PIS stated that the readiness of these fleets and terminals is part of efforts to maintain the smooth energy supply chain during a period of increased energy consumption at the start of the year.
