Pirated CDs, cassettes seized

JAKARTA (JP): The city police arrested a man yesterday for pirating CDs and cassettes in his house, on Jl. Paladis Raya, Sunter Agung, North Jakarta.

According to spokesman Maj. Nyoman Suryasta, the police also seized 37 CD and cassette mastering devices, 2,161 pirated CDs, and 6,649 pirated cassettes from the suspect, Ronny Piliang, aged 30.

Most of the pirated goods were to be distributed and sold in several locations in the area. The police also apprehended 10 other people suspected of selling the previously-produced merchandise.

One of the suspected vendors is an employee at the directorate general for drug and food control.

She was identified as Tili Marpaung, who sold her bogus goods at Pasar Ular, North Jakarta, the police said. (26/bsr)
