Pigai calls for enhanced Indonesia-Georgia cooperation
Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai has urged the strengthening of Indonesia-Georgia bilateral relations, including cooperation in advancing human rights, tolerance, and social justice globally. In a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, Pigai said both countries share common values in upholding independence, mutual respect between nations, and the importance of dialogue to address global challenges. “Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to advancing universal human rights values, tolerance, and social justice, while emphasising the importance of engagement and constructive partnerships between nations,” Pigai said at the Georgia Independence Day commemoration in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May. He noted that Indonesia-Georgia bilateral relations continue to develop and have potential for expansion in several strategic sectors, including trade, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. Pigai also praised the role of Georgian Ambassador to Indonesia Tornike Nozadze in fostering bilateral ties between the two countries, particularly in the economic and trade sectors. He stated that strengthening international cooperation is crucial amid increasingly complex global challenges, requiring partnerships that prioritise inclusivity and respect for human rights. The Indonesian government also commended Georgia’s contributions to supporting international stability and sustainable development. Pigai expressed hope that Indonesia-Georgia relations will continue to strengthen and enhance cross-sectoral cooperation in the future.
