The Pidie Jaya Regency Government, in Aceh Province, is speeding up the updating, verification and validation of flood disaster victim data in the region. Deputy Regent Hasan Basri in Pidie Jaya, on Tuesday, said that the improvements as well as verification and validation of flood victim data involve cross-agency coordination including the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Social Service, and the Population and Civil Registration Service.

“The involvement of cross-organisational regional units strengthens the synchronization of flood victim data and accelerates updates to determine final recipients of flood disaster assistance,” he said.

He also highlighted various issues that emerged with the previous data collection. This is due to weak field supervision, so data collection requires re-validation.

“There are various problems that have emerged such as the data collection not being completed after six months, and issues regarding the targeting accuracy of assistance for homeowners, occupants and tenants affected by the flood,” he said.

According to him, all trusted parties must perform their duties professionally to ensure that residents who are truly affected receive their rights.

“Data not yet included should be proposed back, but the verification process must involve villages because they are most aware of community conditions,” he said.

Helmi hopes that verification officers and all related elements can carry out this mandate to the best of their ability, so that the flood victim data produced is truly accurate.

Head of the Pidie Jaya Regency Social Service, Azhariadi, explained that government aid has different schemes in accordance with applicable rules.

BNPB aid is targeted at homeowners who suffered damage, while aid from the Ministry of Social Affairs targets the occupants of affected homes, including tenants and residents who live at the disaster site.

“Recipients of the Ministry of Social Affairs aid are the occupants who are affected, not merely the homeowners. Therefore, verification must be conducted in detail to avoid misunderstandings in the community,” said Azhariadi.

A hydrometeorological disaster struck Pidie Jaya at the end of November 2025 due to days of heavy rain causing the Krueng (Meureudu River) to overflow.

The river overflow caused flash floods that carried timber and mud. The mud buried residential areas and public facilities up to two metres in height.
