PG Meritjan Kediri Absorbs Sugarcane, Targets 7.5 Percent Yield
The Meritjan Sugar Factory (PG Meritjan) in Kediri, East Java, has actively begun absorbing farmers’ sugarcane for the 2026 milling season, targeting a yield of up to 7.5 percent. General Manager of PG Meritjan Kediri, Tites Agung Priyono, explained that the factory has now started the sugarcane milling process for the 2026 season. According to plan, the factory will mill up to 2.5 million quintals of sugarcane. “We have started the 2026 milling. For this year’s milling season, we are targeting a cane milling volume of 2.5 million quintals with an average yield target of 7.5 percent,” he said in Kediri on Saturday. He added that the 2026 milling target is higher than the 2025 season, during which the factory milled 2.2 million quintals of cane. PG Meritjan has also undertaken various preparations for the 2026 milling to support sugar self-sufficiency, including a general steam test across all machine stations and achieving a compactness rate of 99 percent with farmers. The management also sought blessings from all levels of government as policymakers and the surrounding community to support the milling process at the factory. “We ask for prayers and blessings from the surrounding community and policymakers, hoping the milling runs smoothly and all employees are kept safe,” he stated. He noted that sugarcane farmers deliver cane in accordance with specified standard operating procedures, namely sweet, clean, and fresh cane. “All APTR members have committed to delivering their harvested cane to PG Meritjan. We are united and hope the 2026 milling at PG Meritjan is a success,” he said. The 2026 milling process commenced with a joint prayer involving management, community leaders, and partner farmers, with the activity proceeding smoothly and orderly.
