A petrol station (SPBU) in Babelan District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, became the target of an armed robbery. Five petrol station employees were held captive, and some were assaulted.

“The incident was reported to the police emergency line 110 by members of the public at approximately 03:20 WIB,” said Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Sumarni, on Tuesday (10/3/2026).

The armed robbery took place at SPBU 34.17604 Kebalen, RT 001/002, Kebalen Village, Babelan District, Bekasi Regency, on Tuesday (10/3) at approximately 03:00 WIB.

Based on statements gathered at the scene, the perpetrators are believed to number four individuals. They entered the petrol station staff quarters by forcing the door and threatening victims using sharp weapons and long metal bars.

One victim, identified as M (62), resisted the attack and sustained injuries to his left hand before being restrained with adhesive tape. The perpetrators then proceeded to the rest area where several other employees were sleeping.

“Victim B (49) suffered violence in the form of kicks and punches, while other victims—A (24), M (44), and H (53)—had their heads covered with a blanket and were bound with cable, adhesive tape, and raffia rope,” the police chief stated.

After incapacitating the victims, the perpetrators made their way to the safe where cash was stored and damaged it. Approximately 30 minutes later, the perpetrators fled the scene.

“Officers conducting the crime scene investigation discovered several pieces of evidence, including a damaged iron safe, a toy pistol, black adhesive tape, cable, and a ladder that was allegedly used by the perpetrators to enter through the rear of the petrol station,” he added.

Currently, Babelan Police Station is continuing its investigation by interviewing witnesses and examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the perpetrators. Police also commended the public for promptly reporting the incident through the police emergency line 110, which enabled officers to respond quickly and conduct initial operations at the scene.
