Perumka gets new chief

BANDUNG, West Java (JP): The state-owned railway company
Perusahaan Umum Kereta Api (Perumka) today gets its new board of
directors.

Minister of Transportation Haryanto Dhanutirto is scheduled at
his office in Jakarta to swear in Sumino Eko Saputro, 48, as
Perumka's new president, to replace Anwar Suprijadi, a
spokesperson for the company said yesterday.

Sumino is Perumka's former technical director. Anwar, 47, will
be assigned as an expert assistant on land transportation affairs
to the Minister of Transportation, the spokesperson said.

As well as the new president, Eddy Haryono, Sahidi, Widjanarko
and Sumiarso Soni will also be installed as Perumka's directors
of finance, technical methods, operations and general affairs
respectively.

Perumka, which used to suffer losses annually, started to gain
a profit last year, gaining Rp 3.8 billion (US$1.72 million).

Perumka suffered losses of Rp 67 billion 1n 1990, Rp 7.7
billion in 1991, Rp 4.4. billion in 1992 and Rp 1 billion in
1993. The company is expected to gain a profit of RP 10 billion
