Pertamina Patra Niaga appreciates the swift and decisive steps taken by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) through the Directorate of Specific Crimes (Tipidter) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency in uncovering alleged criminal acts of misuse of subsidised fuel (BBM) and 3kg LPG in various regions across Indonesia from 2025 to 2026. This enforcement effort aims to safeguard the distribution of subsidised BBM and LPG to ensure it reaches the intended targets and protects the public from illegal practices that cause harm. Deputy Chief of National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Inspector General of Police Nunung Syaifudin, emphasised that actions against the misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG are part of the law enforcement apparatus’s commitment to implementing government directives to keep subsidised energy distribution on target. “To the perpetrators, we urge you to immediately stop these illegal practices. We will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone involved, including rogue officials,” Nunung stated during a press conference at National Police Headquarters on Tuesday (7/4/2026). “Law enforcement will be carried out consistently and without tolerance. Such actions not only harm the state but also the public. We are serious; every violation will be firmly addressed to protect the public’s rights to subsidised energy,” he added. Meanwhile, Director of Tipidter at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General of Police Moh Irhamni, revealed that from 2025 to 2026, the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency along with regional police commands have conducted intensive law enforcement against the misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG throughout Indonesia. “The perpetrators’ modus operandi include repeatedly purchasing subsidised BBM at several petrol stations, stockpiling it, and reselling it to industries at higher prices, using modified trucks, and fake licence plates to bypass barcodes. For subsidised LPG, the method involves transferring the contents of 3kg cylinders to 12kg or 50kg cylinders for sale as non-subsidised,” Irhamni explained. Irhamni added that the success of these revelations is inseparable from cross-sector synergy and collaboration in supervising and enforcing the law on subsidised energy distribution. “This success is the result of solid synergy and collaboration between Polri and the TNI, Attorney General’s Office, PPATK, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Pertamina, SKK Migas, BPH Migas, as well as public support. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen this cooperation to improve supervision, prevention, and action against all forms of crime in the energy sector,” Irhamni said. On the same occasion, Director of Retail Marketing at Pertamina Patra Niaga, Eko Ricky Susanto, affirmed that Pertamina Patra Niaga supports and appreciates law enforcement agencies in cracking down on the misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG. Eko stated that subsidies must be channelled according to their purpose so that they truly reach the deserving public. “We are very grateful and support the efforts carried out by the Indonesian National Police and also the TNI, especially in firmly addressing and fully supporting the law enforcement process against parties or rogue elements involved in illegal practices. We are committed to continuing to synergise with Polri and the TNI in law enforcement regarding misuse and improper distribution of BBM and LPG,” Eko said. Eko emphasised that Pertamina Patra Niaga is fully committed to ensuring the distribution of subsidised BBM and 3kg LPG runs according to regulations and on target, and does not tolerate any deviations at the distribution level. “Pertamina Patra Niaga is committed to maintaining the distribution and channelling of subsidised BBM and 3kg LPG in accordance with the provisions. We have carried out various efforts in supervision and monitoring of our partners and distribution institutions,” Eko asserted. “If violations are proven, they will of course be decided criminally under applicable law. In addition, we will also impose firm sanctions, ranging from guidance to Business Relationship Termination (PHU),” he continued. Pertamina Patra Niaga urges the public to purchase BBM at official petrol stations and LPG at official green-placarded depots, ensuring cylinders are sealed, and to use LPG wisely according to needs. The public is also expected to play an active role in reporting indications of misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG to law enforcement authorities or through the Pertamina Contact Center at 135.
