JAKARTA — To enliven the holy month of Ramadan, Pertamina Patra Niaga has introduced a different atmosphere at a number of petrol stations by offering free takjil (breaking-fast snacks) to the public and having station attendants wear baju koko (traditional Islamic shirts) throughout the Ramadan period.

The programme is a form of appreciation and care from Pertamina Patra Niaga for those observing the fast, particularly loyal petrol station customers including ride-hailing drivers, public transport operators, and motorists on the road approaching the time to break their fast.

Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Roberth MV. Dumatubun said the Ramadan period presents an opportunity to strengthen the company’s closeness with the community.

“Ramadan is a month full of blessings and togetherness. Through the takjil-sharing activities and the Ramadan atmosphere at petrol stations with attendants wearing baju koko, we want to create a warmer and more humane environment. Petrol stations are not just places to refuel vehicles, but also comfortable rest stops for the public, including our ride-hailing driver colleagues who continue working to serve customers right up until the time to break their fast,” said Roberth.

Public enthusiasm was evident from the positive responses of customers on the ground. Yudi, a customer at the Fatmawati petrol station, expressed his appreciation for the initiative.

“This is really good and very appealing. It so happens we’re on the way home from work, and sometimes on the road we can’t find food or don’t have time to stop at a restaurant or a warteg because they might be crowded. And it also happens that the tank is empty — so at one time and one place, you can fill up with petrol and also grab something to eat,” said Yudi.

The takjil distribution takes place approaching the time to break the fast at a number of petrol stations situated at strategic, high-traffic locations. Members of the public refuelling or simply passing by are welcome to stop and enjoy the takjil provided.

In addition, the use of baju koko by petrol station attendants serves as a symbol of the Ramadan spirit that remains professional yet rich in the values of togetherness. Despite the religious-themed appearance, service to the public continues to uphold operational standards, safety, and customer comfort.
