Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) has ensured that 30 workers and their families employed at the PIS branch office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, specifically PIS Middle East (PIS ME), are in safe condition.

“The condition of PIS Middle East workers and their families is currently assured to be safe, and the company continues to monitor the situation in Dubai,” said PIS Acting Corporate Secretary Vega Pita, in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.

Vega emphasised that the company’s primary focus is to ensure the safety of workers and ship crews as well as the operational security of the fleet in strategic sea lanes.

Regarding the position of the fleet in the region, PIS reported that there are four vessels currently in the Middle East area: the Gamsunoro vessel is in the process of loading at Khor al Zubair, Iraq; the Pertamina Pride vessel has completed the loading process and is now anchored at Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia; the PIS Rinjani vessel is currently anchored at Khor Fakkan, UAE; and the PIS Paragon vessel is discharging in Oman.

Vega stated that the company will continue to monitor the security conditions of the four vessels. PIS is proactively coordinating with ship management authorities and local maritime authorities to enhance vigilance.

PIS also continues to maintain intensive communication and complies with recommendations and directives issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, and the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai.

There are two vessels still in the Gulf area: Pertamina Pride with Ship Management from NYK, and the Gamsunoro vessel currently managed by Synergy Ship Management. Both continue to be monitored in real-time to ensure their security status.

“While continuously monitoring developments around the clock, we are working to ensure both vessels can promptly exit the Gulf area. Currently, our fleet team is engaged in intensive communication with the ship managers for coordination and to ensure the safety of the crew and vessels,” said Vega.

PIS is committed to continuously monitoring the development of the security situation in the region to ensure the safety of workers and the energy distribution fleet.
