Pertamina Ensures Safe Upstream-to-Downstream Energy Supply During Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026, Check Preparedness
Jakarta, VIVA – Vice President Corporate Communication PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron, confirmed that the company is prepared to safeguard the national energy supply during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period of 2026. He said this includes operating the Ramadan-Eid al-Fitr Task Force (Satgas RAFI) to anticipate the surge in energy consumption by people during the exodus (mudik). ‘Stock of BBM, LPG, and avtur is secure and can meet the needs of the Indonesian public during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr,’ Baron said at Grha Pertamina, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. He explained that Pertamina, as an integrated energy company, relies on the synergy of all its sub-holdings, from upstream to downstream, to maintain national energy resilience during the peak consumption period. Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), Hermansyah Y. Nasroen, explained that on the upstream side, production and oil and gas lifting activities will continue to run normally, with tightened safety oversight during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. ‘During Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, upstream oil and gas operations will continue normally with tightened oversight. There will be no reduction in safety standards or operational controls,’ he said. On the downstream side, Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, said that consumption of petrol (gasoline) during Satgas RAFI 2026 is projected to rise by around 12 percent compared with normal conditions. ‘Petrol, which is the group of fuels equivalent to petrol, such as Pertalite and Pertamax, is expected to rise by about 12 percent from normal consumption,’ said Roberth. ‘Conversely, consumption of diesel-type fuels (gasoil) is expected to fall by around 14.5 percent, in line with operational restrictions on logistics vehicles during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period.’ For other commodities, Roberth noted that LPG distribution during the RAFI period is projected to rise by about 4 percent. ‘Meanwhile, demand for avtur is expected to rise 2.8 percent and kerosene by around 4.2 percent compared with normal conditions,’ he added. To support smooth energy distribution, Pertamina has mobilised national infrastructure including 7,885 public fuel stations (SPBU), 6,777 Pertashop outlets, 6,662 LPG agents, 757 LPG bulk filling and transport stations (SPBE), and 223 minyak tanah agents. On potential mudik routes, Pertamina also operates 2,074 SPBU that operate 24 hours, around 6,300 standby LPG agents, 96 modular BBM service units, and 62 Kios Pertamina Siaga at 64 locations.
