Pertamina and ERIA collaborate to support energy transition
Energy independence and energy transition are two strategies being pursued simultaneously by Pertamina.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Pertamina and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) have established a strategic collaboration to support the government’s programmes in building national energy independence and advancing energy transition.
“Energy independence and energy transition are two strategies being pursued by Pertamina simultaneously. These two reinforce each other. This is also an implementation of Pertamina’s Dual Growth Strategy,” said Pertamina’s Director of Portfolio Strategy and Business Development (SPPU), Emma Sri Martini, in an official statement confirmed by ANTARA from Jakarta on Sunday.
Emma conveyed that Pertamina is committed to continuing its support for the government’s programmes in building national energy independence and advancing energy transition.
To this end, Pertamina continues to develop its capabilities and capacity through collaboration with various stakeholders, including think tanks.
Emma explained that Pertamina is currently implementing two main pillars of its business strategy: optimising existing fossil fuel-based energy businesses and accelerating the development of low-carbon businesses.
The Memorandum of Understanding encompasses two main pillars of cooperation: policy and economic analysis in the energy sector, and capacity building and knowledge exchange.
Implementation of the memorandum will be undertaken by Pertamina Energy Institute (PEI) as the strategic think tank within Pertamina.
“Through this partnership with ERIA, Pertamina will receive support in the form of research-based policy studies, comprehensive energy economic analysis, and strengthening of institutional capacity that aligns with the development of the Company’s business portfolio and long-term strategy,” Emma said.
Emma also noted that this collaboration is expected to strengthen Pertamina’s strategic position in the regional sphere amid evolving global energy transition dynamics.
“By collaborating with various stakeholders including international-level think tanks, this will enhance the capacity of all parties,” she said.
