The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has reported that shortages of 12-kilogram Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders, which previously disrupted operations at several Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) units under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) and Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), are now being addressed.

Wakil Kepala Badan Gizi Nasional (BGN) for Public Communication and Investigation, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, stated that her agency had directly coordinated with PT Pertamina (Persero) to ensure the gas needs for MBG kitchen operations are promptly met.

“Alhamdulillah, after I reported to the Pertamina Holding BOC-BOD Group, Mr Director SHD immediately took action. SPPGs that have run out of gas should immediately purchase from depots,” said Nanik in Jakarta, quoted on Thursday (14/5/2026).

Nanik expressed appreciation for Pertamina’s quick response in handling gas distribution issues in the affected areas. According to her, cross-agency synergy is key to keeping MBG services running and ensuring public nutrition needs are not disrupted.

“We are grateful for the very swift response. The most important thing now is that the operational needs of SPPG kitchens can be met immediately so that MBG services to the public continue uninterrupted,” she explained.

Following up on the report, the Director of Sub Holding Downstream (SHD) at PT Pertamina (Persero), Mars Ega Legowo Putra, assured that LPG distribution to SPPGs in NTT is being prioritised.

“Today, we are prioritising SPPGs. Earlier, we contacted the PIC in NTT; 220 cylinders are being sent today to the Kefamenanu and Belu areas, as well as 200 cylinders for SPPGs in Kupang City and the district,” said Ega.

He assured that distribution efforts are also ongoing for other areas such as Sumba and Manggarai to ensure all MBG services can return to normal. Pertamina, according to Ega, will continue to monitor the availability of LPG supplies in the affected regions to prevent disruptions to MBG kitchen operations.

“We will continue to ensure gas availability so that MBG runs normally,” he stated.

Previously, several SPPGs in NTT and NTB had temporarily halted operations due to difficulties in obtaining 12-kilogram LPG. This situation impacted meal provision services under the MBG programme in some areas.
