Pertagas Wins Three PROPER Gold Environmental Awards from KLHK
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), the Gas Subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero), has received three PROPER Gold awards from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) thanks to sustainable programmes that have a real impact on communities and preserve the environment in operational areas.
“This award reaffirms Pertagas’s consistency and strong commitment to implementing corporate social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) programmes that deliver tangible impacts for communities and sustainable environmental preservation,” said Pertagas President Director Indra P Sembiring in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
The awards were presented by the Minister of Environment and Forestry/Head of the Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq to Pertagas President Director Indra P Sembiring and Technical and Operations Director Agung Indri Pramantyo at the PROPER event at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta.
According to Indra, this achievement is recognition of the company’s performance in environmental management that not only complies with regulations in its operations but also goes beyond standards (beyond compliance) through innovation and community empowerment.
He also stated that the PROPER Gold achievement is recognition of the company’s performance in environmental management that not only complies with regulations in its operations but also exceeds established standards through innovation and community empowerment.
“This award is appreciation for the company’s TJSL programmes that are implemented consistently, thus providing tangible impacts, both environmentally and in improving community welfare,” said Indra.
He added that this success is inseparable from the implementation of various innovative programmes in operational areas that integrate social and environmental aspects.
Pertagas’s environmental contributions are strengthened through various eco-innovation programmes.
In the East Java Area operations, the Eco Pori programme processes plastic waste into ecobricks to support irrigation while increasing agricultural productivity.
In the Kalimantan Area, PISPA 2.0 utilises pipe waste and organic waste to create irrigation and fertilisation facilities that reduce emissions.
Meanwhile, in the South Sumatra Area, the PESONA programme processes cow urine waste into organic pesticides to support environmentally friendly agriculture.
In line with that, community empowerment programmes are also continuously strengthened. Pertamina Gas Kalimantan Area operations have achieved PROPER Gold for the fourth consecutive time since 2022.
Meanwhile, Pertamina Gas South Sumatra Area operations received PROPER Gold for the second time since 2024, and Pertamina Gas East Java Area operations once again obtained PROPER Gold for the third time after previously receiving it in 2019 and 2020.
Through the Karyadarsa programme in the Kalimantan Area, Pertagas has improved access to clean water through the Integrated Water Management innovation (Aquagrid System) and transformed 2.5 hectares of critical land into productive land.
“This programme also encourages cost efficiency, increased community income, and strengthens village economic independence through BUMDes development and expansion of MSME market access,” he said.
In the South Sumatra Area, the Pusaka Artha programme has successfully developed inclusive circular economy through optimal water management and utilisation of livestock waste into economically valuable products. The impact has been an increase in community income, stronger farmer regeneration, and greater youth involvement.
Meanwhile, the Cita Sembada programme in the East Java Area has driven an increase in agricultural productivity to three harvests per year, directly impacting farmers’ income growth.
This programme also strengthens environmental management through an integrated waste management system and encourages more efficient and competitive MSME growth by involving vulnerable groups, including women and mental health patients, who are empowered in productive economic activities.
“Overall, Pertagas’s TJSL programmes have reached 17 community groups with more than 11,000 souls as direct beneficiaries,” added Indra.
This achievement is also reflected in the Community Satisfaction Index (IKM) of 3.49 in the very good category, as well as a Social Return on Investment (SROI) value of 1.49, indicating the effectiveness and sustainability of the programmes.
“We are committed to continuing to be a strategic partner that provides sustainable added value for communities, while aligning with the company’s business growth,” he added.
Through this achievement, Pertagas affirms that it is not just an award, but a real result of the company’s commitment to delivering solutions to social and environmental challenges sustainably.
