Persis DKI Distributes Scholarships to 250 Students and Assistance to Orphans, the Poor, and Persons with Disabilities
The Regional Leadership of Persatuan Islam (Persis) DKI Jakarta distributed undergraduate education scholarships to students and provided assistance to orphans, the poor, and persons with disabilities through the Ramadan Caring 2026 programme. The event was held at the offices of Persis DKI Jakarta on Friday, 13 March.
A total of 250 beneficiaries participated in the event, comprising scholarship-receiving students, orphans and the poor, and persons with disabilities from various areas across Jakarta.
The chairman of the Ramadan Caring 2026 organising committee, Zen Abdul Rahim, stated that the programme represented Persis’s commitment to supporting educational access for communities, particularly from low-income families.
“Through this programme, we want to ensure that economic conditions do not hinder young people from continuing their education. Ramadan is also the best opportunity to strengthen social concern and bring benefits to others,” said Zen.
He explained that the Ramadan Caring programme is an annual agenda of Persis DKI Jakarta carried out together with the Persis Charitable Foundation. The programme is part of the organisation’s efforts in promoting social justice and improving community welfare.
Secretary of Persis DKI Jakarta, Wahyudin, affirmed that social activities such as this are part of civil society organisations’ role in strengthening social solidarity within communities.
“Persis is committed to continuing to contribute in the fields of Islamic outreach, education, and social services. Support for education is one of the important focuses because education is the path to improving the quality of people’s lives,” said Wahyudin.
Head of the Persis Charitable Foundation DKI Jakarta, Asep Djuanda Sunarya, added that strengthening educational programmes through scholarships and social assistance for vulnerable groups is part of his institution’s mission in optimising the management of zakat (Islamic alms), infak (voluntary contributions), and sedekah (charitable donations).
“We want to ensure that zakat, infak, and sedekah funds that are managed can provide real benefits to the Muslim community, particularly for those who need support for education and social assistance,” he said.
In addition to the distribution of assistance, the Ramadan Caring 2026 event included a Ramadan spiritual talk themed “Finding Joy in Islam” delivered by KH Latif Nurdin. The event concluded with collective prayers and breaking the fast together with all participants.
Through this programme, Persis DKI Jakarta and the Persis Charitable Foundation hope that the spirit of sharing and social concern in Ramadan will continue to grow and bring real benefits to communities in need.
