The Professional Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI Professional) was officially established through the installation of its board at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta on Friday (8/5).

PERADI Professional’s General Chairman, Harris Arthur Haedar, stated that the organisation has received full legitimacy from the state through the Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number AHU-0000086.AH.01.07.YEAR 2026, issued on 27 January 2026.

Arthur noted that the inauguration moment is not merely a ceremony. Rather, it serves as a strong signal for the emergence of new standards in advocate practice amid an increasingly complex, dynamic legal landscape that demands high professionalism.

“PERADI Professional is present not to create fragmentation in the advocate organisations, but to strengthen the legal profession ecosystem through more adaptive, modern standards oriented towards quality,” said Harris in his statement on Friday.

One of PERADI Professional’s main focuses is the renewal of the advocate education system. Through an evaluation of the implementation of the Special Professional Advocate Education (PKPA), the organisation introduces a new approach via the Advocate Education Programme (PPA).

Harris described the programme as designed to produce advocates who not only meet administrative requirements but also possess strong practical readiness, measurable professional competencies, and high integrity in law enforcement.

“With this approach, PERADI Professional aims to address the main challenges of the advocate profession, the gap between theory and field practice,” he said.

Furthermore, as part of institutional strengthening, PERADI Professional has signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with various strategic parties, ranging from ministries, universities, to the banking sector.

To date, the organisation has collaborated with 39 universities across Indonesia, established boards in 30 provinces, developed synergies with 6 ministries/state institutions, and formed partnerships with 2 banking institutions.

“This step affirms that the position of advocates is no longer standalone, but becomes part of an integrated legal ecosystem with the world of education, public policy, and the economic sector,” said Harris.
