PepsiCo Acknowledges Strict Food and Beverage Regulations in Indonesia
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PepsiCo’s Director of Public Policy, Government Affairs & Corporate Communications, Gabrielle Angriani Johny, has acknowledged that supervision in Indonesia’s food and beverage sector is very strict. Producers are always required to provide quality and safe products for consumption.
“Indeed, we are establishing a factory in 2025, with an investment of Rp3 trillion for the Citos and Doritos factory. The corn raw material has specific specifications to ensure it is not harmful,” she stated at the Food Summit 2026 held at the Bank Mega Building Auditorium in Jakarta on Monday (27/4/2026).
However, Gabrielle noted that many people are not yet aware that quality raw materials for products are not always available in Indonesia. Therefore, it is not surprising that some raw materials are still imported.
As a global food and beverage producer, PepsiCo has committed to complying with regulations and ensuring a secure food supply chain.
“We remain committed to our obligations. But we believe there needs to be more education for the public and farmers. We have partnered with farmers to produce products that meet industry standards and can be absorbed by the market,” she explained.
According to Gabrielle, the company is actively educating and developing potato and corn farming with local farmers. This effort is part of the company’s commitment to enhancing farmers’ productivity and quality.
“We also strive for knowledge transfer. This can be done quickly, and farmers are willing to accept guidance so that yields can increase,” she added.
