Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT Pelni (Persero) recorded serving 652,271 passengers during the 2026 Lebaran/Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah transport period to support public travel during that time.
“During the Lebaran transport period from 6 March to 6 April 2026, Pelni served a total of 652,271 passengers, exceeding the projection of 641,025 passengers or reaching 102 percent of the set target,” said Pelni President Director Tri Andayani, familiarly known as Anda, when confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday.
Anda stated that the figure consisted of 577,239 passenger ship passengers and 75,032 pioneer ship passengers.
She also noted that the peak mudik flow for Pelni ships occurred on 18 March 2026 with a realisation of 31,460 passengers, while the peak balik flow was on 30 March 2026 with 28,296 passengers.
In addition to the passenger achievement, the state-owned maritime transport company also recorded optimal operational performance with an on-time performance (OTP) of ships reaching 97 percent during the 2026 Lebaran transport period.
“This achievement demonstrates the company’s commitment to maintaining the punctuality of ship departures and arrivals, thereby providing travel certainty for passengers,” she said.
She stated that the success of this year’s Lebaran transport was inseparable from the hard work of the entire team and public support.
“Alhamdulillah, Pelni’s 2026 Lebaran Transport ran smoothly and recorded results exceeding the target,” Anda remarked.
According to her, during the peak mudik and balik flows, operations also proceeded orderly, supported by optimal preparations, including route adjustments, capacity increases, and strict monitoring of passenger safety and comfort.
Anda also explained that this year’s passenger distribution was fairly even, with the central region being the highest at 42 percent, followed by the western region at 30.6 percent and the eastern region at 27.5 percent.
This indicates that the public’s need for maritime transport remains high across various regions of Indonesia.
“We see this pattern as a positive indication that inter-island connectivity through Pelni is increasingly needed and relied upon by the public,” she added.
She also expressed gratitude to all passengers who entrusted their journeys to Pelni during the Lebaran period.
“The trust and support of the public serve as our main motivation to continue improving service quality,” Anda added.
Although the Lebaran transport period has ended, Pelni remains committed to maintaining safety standards and providing the best service by prioritising safety first, zero accidents, and service excellence, as well as continuously conducting evaluations and service improvements for passengers.
She also appreciated all ship crew, operational staff, and related stakeholders who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation, safety, and comfort of passengers during the 2026 Lebaran Transport period.
