Pelindo Regional 4 Ensures Makassar Port Readiness Ahead of Lebaran Mudik
Pelindo Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 4 has ensured the readiness of port operational services ahead of Lebaran 2026 mudik. The review was conducted by Pelindo’s Chief Financial Officer, Bachtiar Soeria Atmadja, during a working visit to Makassar Port Passenger Terminal and the New Makassar 1 Container Terminal (TPK New Makassar 1). The visit aimed to assess terminal facilities, operational services and the application of workplace safety measures in the port area, in order to ensure all activities run optimally during the expected rise in passenger movement. Bachtiar said the inspection was part of the company’s commitment to guaranteeing that port services operate safely and reliably during the Lebaran mudik season. ‘We want the public travelling through Makassar Port to receive services that are safe, comfortable and smooth. The inspection covers terminal facilities, personnel readiness and the implementation of safety measures,’ he said in a press statement received by Media Indonesia in Palu on Friday (6/3). As one of the main gateways for maritime connectivity in the Eastern Indonesia region, Makassar Port plays a strategic role. Therefore, operational readiness is crucial, especially as passenger mobility increases during the Lebaran mudik period. During the visit, Bachtiar reviewed several passenger terminal facilities, including the arrival and departure areas, waiting rooms, the passenger service flow, and the terminal safety and security systems. He also inspected activities at the New Makassar 1 Container Terminal to ensure smooth loading and unloading operations and the readiness of facilities to support national logistics flows. Division Head of Operations, Pelindo Regional 4, Yusida M. Palesang, stated that they had prepared anticipatory steps to ensure smooth services. ‘Coordination continues with all stakeholders to ensure services to the public and users are safe and smooth. Oversight of workplace safety remains a top priority,’ he said. In addition, Pelindo continues to transform its services through upgrading passenger terminal facilities, implementing safety standards, regulating operational traffic and supervising work areas, so that all port activities are safe and controlled. After the site visit, the activities continued with a sharing session with Pelindo Group staff in the Makassar Work Area at the AKHLAK Meeting Room, 7th Floor of the Pelindo Regional 4 Office. In this session, Bachtiar discussed the role of employees in supporting the company’s performance, improving service delivery and the importance of collaboration and integration in port operations. The event also served as a moment to strengthen communication and synergy between head office management and Pelindo staff in the regional work area, and to push the transformation of the company towards delivering professional, modern, and competitive port services. Through these measures, Pelindo is committed to improving port service quality and ensuring smooth national transport and logistics flows, particularly ahead of Lebaran mudik. (H-3)
