Pekalongan Regent in Arrest Operation: 11 People Arrive at KPK Office, Including the Regional Secretary
Eleven people arrested in an arrest operation, including Pekalongan Regency Secretary Mohammad Yulian Akbar, arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday night around 9:00 p.m. WIB. According to CNNIndonesia.com’s observations at the KPK office, Yulian Akbar alongside several Indonesian Civil Servants (ASN) from the Pekalongan Regency Government were transported to the KPK by bus. ‘The team has also secured several individuals in Pekalongan and they are now being transported to Jakarta. Tonight, there will be around 11 people brought to Jakarta. One of them is the Secretary,’ KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said in a media briefing at the agency’s Jakarta office on Tuesday (3/3). In the first batch, the KPK initially arrested Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq along with aides and trusted confidants. They are still undergoing intensive questioning at the KPK office tonight. ‘The investigations relate to alleged criminal acts of corruption in the procurement of goods and services in the Pekalongan Regency government,’ said Budi. In the quiet operation the KPK seized electronic evidence (BBE) and several four-wheeled vehicles. ‘We will provide an update later. Among them electronic evidence was secured, and vehicles were secured as well,’ Budi added. Tonight the KPK will conduct a gelar perkara (case conference) or exposé to determine the legal status of the individuals who were caught red-handed. KPK investigators conducted an arrest operation (OTT) in Central Java earlier this week. In the first batch, the KPK arrested Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq along with aides and trusted associates.
