JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The peak of the Lebaran 2026 return flow is predicted to reach more than 285,000 vehicles, exceeding the number of vehicles during the mudik peak, which was recorded at 270,315 vehicles.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has urged the public to avoid the peak return flow, expected to occur on 24, 28, and 29 March 2026.

The appeal was made during an inspection of H+1 Lebaran traffic flow at the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC) on Sunday (22/03/2026).

Therefore, the government urges the public to return to Jabotabek on 23 March 2026 by utilising the public holiday, or during the period of 25-27 March 2026 by taking advantage of the Work From Anywhere period.

He added that avoiding the peak return flow is necessary to ensure more even traffic distribution and make public travel more comfortable.

In line with this, National Police Traffic Corps Chief Agus Suryonugroho stated that there are three return flow peaks that mudik participants need to anticipate.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk Rivan A. Purwantono invited the public to plan their journeys better, including utilising toll fee incentives.

“We also remind mudik participants to take advantage of the 30 percent toll fee discount during the return flow period for two days, namely on 26-27 March 2026, on 9 Jasa Marga Group toll roads for continuous journeys,” said Rivan.

“The aim is the same as recommended by the Transport Minister and the National Police Traffic Corps Chief, namely to control the distribution of return flow traffic volume and provide more comfortable travel for the public,” Rivan explained.

In facing the return flow, Jasa Marga is strengthening services on main toll roads by optimising toll gates, preparing service fleets, and conducting situational traffic management.

Traffic monitoring is also carried out in real-time through JMTC, supported by information dissemination via the Travoy application, call centre 133, and Radio Travoy FM.

The Ministry of Transportation, National Police Traffic Corps, and Jasa Marga also remind the public to ensure vehicle and driver conditions are in top shape, to rest sufficiently at rest areas, and to ensure sufficient fuel and electronic money balance before entering the toll road.
