Peak Return Flow at Kampung Rambutan Terminal Predicted in Two Waves
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Lebaran 2026 return flow at Kampung Rambutan Terminal is predicted to occur in two peak waves: on 25 March from early morning to midday, and the second peak on 29 March 2026.
The Head of Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Revi Zulkarnain, stated that the difference in these peak times is influenced by variations in the public’s holiday periods.
“The first return flow is estimated to occur on 25 March, especially from early morning to midday. The second peak will then happen on 29 March because some people have longer holiday periods,” said Revi.
He explained that the first wave of returnees will be dominated by workers who start returning to work on 25 March.
Meanwhile, the second wave consists of mudik travellers with longer holiday times.
To anticipate the surge in passengers, the terminal authorities have ensured that service posts will remain operational until 29 March.
Terminal operations will also run fully for 24 hours, including on Eid al-Fitr day itself.
“We are preparing three service posts assisted by the Police and TNI, as well as Satpol PP, the Transportation Agency, and the Scouts, to provide a sense of security for mudik passengers; these will remain in place until 29 March 2026,” said Revi.
In addition, a health post is available, supported by the Health Department, the East Jakarta Health Sub-District Office, and various other institutions, to ensure the health of mudik travellers is monitored while at the terminal.
Additional facilities are also provided, ranging from passenger waiting rooms, rest areas for mudik travellers, lactation rooms for mothers and children, to free health checks for mudik participants.
On the other hand, the mudik flow leading up to Lebaran shows a downward trend.
Up to H-1 Lebaran on Friday from 00:00 to 09:00 WIB, the number of departing passengers was recorded at 325 people.
This figure is a significant decrease compared to the mudik peak on 18 March 2026, which reached 5,336 passengers.
A decline was also seen on H-2 Lebaran with 3,464 passengers.
“Indeed, there has been a decrease today. It is likely to continue declining, and currently it is dominated by mudik travellers to nearby destinations, such as West Java, Banten, Central Java, and Lampung,” said Revi.
Revi noted that this condition indicates that the majority of the public has undertaken their mudik journeys earlier.
